Why We’ve Introduced Weekend Sailing Courses
Traditionally, RYA practical courses are delivered over five consecutive days. While this works well for some, many people simply can’t commit to a full week away.
By splitting the course across two weekends, we’re making it easier than ever to:
- Learn to sail without taking time off work
- Progress your qualifications at a manageable pace
- Enjoy a more relaxed and effective learning experience
This format has been designed to maintain the full RYA syllabus and standards, while offering greater flexibility.

We are now offering the following courses in a split weekend format:
RYA Competent Crew – 2 Weekend Course
Perfect for beginners, this course is your introduction to life on board and the fundamentals of sailing.
Over two weekends, you’ll learn:
- Basic seamanship and ropework
- Sail handling and helming
- Safety procedures and onboard awareness
- How to be an effective and confident crew member
