RYA Start Yachting Course – A Perfect Introduction to Sailing
The RYA Start Yachting course is the ideal first step for anyone curious about life at sea and eager to experience sailing for the first time. Over a relaxed and enjoyable weekend, you’ll learn the basic skills needed to crew a yacht, getting hands-on with steering, sail handling, rope work, and safety on board. No previous experience is required – just enthusiasm and a sense of adventure.
Under the guidance of an experienced instructor, you’ll gain confidence on the water and discover what sailing is all about. By the end of the course, you’ll have a solid foundation in essential seamanship and a recognised RYA certificate that can be continued towards the Competent Crew course.

Sudent Ratio
All courses usually operate on a 3:1 ratio, however the start yachting course is a great course for a family or group of friends to undertake. If you are a group who are happy to share cabins (its only one night!) then we can relax the group size upto a maximum of 6 people. Also if you have specific dates please get in touch, we are always happy to try and accomodate requests.
